The book that saved my sanity

Guys! I have to share some stuff with you. Of course I share a lot, but this is super important to me, especially with my mom busy-ness.

Over the past two years I have felt so grateful for all of the opportunities that land in my lap. I also have not been able to increase the amount of time in the day to handle all of these (weird, right). So rather than pick and choose, I have said yes to all of them.

Want to know what happened? Guess.

Yep, I became a stressed out mom-ster.

There is no way to be a healthy individual and have a family an career and and and... when you're saying yes to everything. This seems like a no-brainer. However, when you're like me and get so excited about the possibilities, you have a hard time saying no.

Let me get to my point. I was searching, or rather, my soul was crying in the corner, and was needing something to stop the madness. I seriously believe God put this in my lap because it was a game changer.

I started crying in the first half of this book. Not exaggerating. Her words are my words. Her words are all of our words. ❤️ I am a "to-do" addict and am not living life, in the sense that I want to-  and realized I needed help. This book is everything:

This book saved me. Even if you aren't stressed, but want to refocus what is important to you, you have no idea what this book will do. I feel like I gained a new perspective on what is important and what it means to live a life where you actually enjoy each day. I learned to say no and be okay with it.

People respect someone who says, "no, I can't do that because I would have less time with my family." It is okay to say that.

If you do audio books, you may have seen this. If not, you HAVE TO download the Audible app and read this.

(note, you cant buy books on the app, you have to do it on the desktop site and download to your phone after)

I promise you... if you give this 15 minutes of your time you won't regret it. This book is for everyone regardless of how you feel about your life.

Here's a description from the author, Shauna Niequist:

"LIVE A LIFE OF MEANING AND CONNECTION

Instead of pushing for perfection
A few years ago, I found myself exhausted and isolated, my soul and body sick. I was tired of being tired, burned out on busy. And, it seemed almost everyone I talked with was in the same boat: longing for connection, meaning, depth, but settling for busy.
I am a wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, neighbor, writer, and I know all too well that settling feeling. But over the course of the last few years, I’ve learned a way to live, marked by grace, love, rest, and play. And it’s changing everything.
Present Over Perfect is an invitation to this journey that changed my life. I’ll walk this path with you, a path away from frantic pushing and proving, and toward your essential self, the one you were created to be before you began proving and earning for your worth."
